What Exactly IS an Editorial Senior Session?

 

The term editorial originates from magazine storytelling. Imagery crafted to accompany the written word. More than a photoshoot; an editorial is a visual narrative. A styled, intentional experience designed to bring beautiful visuals to a narrative, evoke emotion, and capture who you are in this chapter of your life.


While we can either go a Traditional or Creative route, all Senior & Grad Sessions tell a story.  Here, you are the narrative. Your journey, your spirit, your accomplishments, and your step into this next chapter; that's the story we're turning into art.


Whether you're drawn to timeless elegance, bold artistic expression, candid nostalgia, or simplicity, every session is carefully curated, from wardrobe to location to light. The result? Cinematic, magazine-worthy portraits that don't just commemorate a milestone, they showcase this moment in your life as art.

 

What should i Expect?

Whether you've done this before or not, you're in good hands.

Expect that I am well aware that most people haven't done a photoshoot before. Not sure what to do in front of the camera? Don't worry, that's why you came to me. I'll direct and guide you the whole time. Together, we'll frame this moment as art. It's not about "posing." Sure, that's definitely a part of being in front of the camera, but knowing how to pose is my responsibility. You just need to be comfortable and have fun, and making sure that's the experience you have is my top priority.

Not only will I capture the beautifully artistic shots, but also the candid, happy, and nostalgic photos that show effortless pure joy.  And don’t worry if you’re feeling a little tired or you’re not having the best skin on the day of our session; fixing all of those little things is standard in my work. You WILL look as if it was naturally your best day ever. I promise that!

Quality over Quantity

While many photographers give you back every image (& I do have similar options), my focus is quality over quantity. I'd rather divide 10+ hours of effort into refining 20-75 images you know you love than spreading that effort thin over 300+ images you just like. That way, every photo you receive from the session is pure magic.

What's better is you get to select which of those moments receive that magic touch! During our session, I'll shoot thousands of images, then curate a proof gallery of the top 100-500 moments for you to choose from.

It's a guided process, so you're not overwhelmed with endless options, and you know you're receiving nothing but perfection.

What kind of locations are good for our session?

A.Our location is one of the last things we'll figure out. It depends on our theme, vibe, outfits, and you. Feel free to make suggestions if you have something in mind.

I've never done a photoshoot before.

A.No worries! Rook has plenty of experience with the unexperienced. You'll be directed, shown how to pose, and have the time of your life!

How long does it take to get photos back?

A.Typically, around 6-8 weeks. Rush Options are available, just ask!

What if I want Creative & Traditional Photos?

A.We can absolutely do that! Often sessions have a mix of themes and looks. we can discuss this during our consultation call!

Should I clear my schedule the day of our session?

A.Unless otherwise directed, yes. The day of can have multiple changes to our schedule. It all depends on things like weather, last minute outfit fixes, hair & makeup, etc. Rook may also have a fun new idea to mix in. Plus, it's your day; pamper yourself queen.
